Quatre États américains se rapprochent de l’arrivée des permis et cartes d’identité dans Apple Wallet. La Caroline du Nord donne un calendrier, tandis que l’Oklahoma, l’Utah et la Virginie avancent encore sans date publique précise.
Le Wallet fait quatre pas, pas quatre bonds
À la date du 17 août 2026, quatre États apparaissent dans la prochaine vague de déploiement d’Apple Wallet : la Caroline du Nord, l’Oklahoma, l’Utah et la Virginie. La fonction existe depuis 2022 sur iPhonemais chaque État doit organiser lui-même la création, la vérification et l’acceptation de son identité numérique. Apple ne peut pas appuyer seule sur le bouton magique.
Plusieurs États proposent déjà un permis ou une carte d’identité dans l’application, notamment l’Arizona, le Maryland, le Colorado, la Géorgie, l’Ohio, Hawaï, la Californie, l’Iowa, le Nouveau-Mexique, le Montana, le Dakota du Nord, la Virginie-Occidentale et l’Illinois. Porto Rico figure également dans le programme. Le permis numérique progresse, mais il avance à la vitesse des gouvernements locaux.
Caroline du Nord, NC Wallet avant le grand saut
La Caroline du Nord fournit le calendrier le plus concret. Son DMV prévoit un programme de carte d’identité mobile plus tard en 2026, avec une première étape dans la nouvelle application NC Wallet. Les résidents devraient pouvoir y configurer leur identité numérique à partir de décembre 2026.
Décembre côté DMV, début 2027 côté Wallet
L’arrivée dans Apple WalletGoogle Wallet et Samsung Wallet doit suivre au début de 2027. La nuance évite une fausse date de lancement : en décembre, la Caroline du Nord ouvre d’abord son propre dispositif. L’intégration aux portefeuilles des fabricants vient ensuite. Ça négocie sévère entre les calendriers administratifs et les jardins clos des fabricants.
L’Oklahoma, l’Utah et la Virginie sont également prévus dans cette prochaine vague, mais aucun de ces trois États n’a encore publié de date de disponibilité. Leur présence dans le calendrier ne vaut donc pas lancement effectif. Quatre États annoncés, une seule fenêtre précise : le compte-gouttes est bien réglé.
Le jardin clos passe au contrôle TSA
Un permis stocké dans Apple Wallet n’est pas encore un document universel. Aux États-Unis, une identité numérique peut être présentée à certains points de contrôle de la TSA dans des aéroports participants, dont Baltimore-Washington, Ronald Reagan Washington National, Washington Dulles et San Francisco International.
La TSA n’est pas un bouton universel
La liste des aéroports participants comprend aussi Phoenix, Denver, Atlanta, Cincinnati et Columbus. La disponibilité peut toutefois varier selon le terminal et le point de contrôle. On vérifie donc les indications de l’aéroport avant de compter uniquement sur l’écran de son iPhone. Wallet facilite certains contrôles, il ne remplace pas encore tous les documents physiques.
Avant un voyage, vérifiez que le point de contrôle TSA accepte bien les identités numériques et conservez votre permis ou votre carte d’identité classique. L’acceptation dépend du lieu, pas seulement de la présence du document dans Wallet.
Un permis dans l’iPhone, pas un passe-droit

Lorsque l’État prend en charge la fonction, l’ajout se fait depuis l’application Apple Wallet. La procédure reste courte :
- Ouvrir Apple Wallet sur l’iPhone.
- Toucher le bouton « + ».
- Suivre les instructions affichées à l’écran pour ajouter le permis ou la carte d’identité.
La compatibilité commence avec un iPhone 8 ou un modèle plus récent sous iOS 16.5 ou une version ultérieure. L’ajout fonctionne aussi sur une Apple Watch Series 4 ou un modèle plus récent utilisant watchOS 9.5 ou une version ultérieure.
Cette exigence matérielle exclut donc les anciens appareils, même lorsqu’ils continuent de recevoir des mises à jour ou de faire tourner de nombreuses applications. Avant de faire ses adieux à la carte plastique, on vérifie le modèle de son iPhone et la version du système. Le jardin clos demande encore la bonne clé.
Le permis numérique garde une roue de secours
Le déploiement montre la limite du modèle d’Apple Wallet. L’application peut rassembler les cartes, billets et clés déjà validés par Apple, mais elle dépend ici d’une décision administrative propre à chaque territoire. Une identité numérique peut donc exister dans une application d’État sans rejoindre immédiatement le portefeuille d’Apple.
Pour la Caroline du Nord, le passage par NC Wallet avant l’intégration aux autres portefeuilles résume bien cette mécanique. Pour l’Oklahoma, l’Utah et la Virginie, l’absence de date empêche encore d’en faire une promesse utilisable au quotidien. Le permis physique n’est pas glamour, mais il reste le document qui ne demande ni mise à jour ni accord entre trois jardins clos.
