Le 5 janvier 2026, Apple commercialise une édition Year of the Horse des AirPods Pro 3 sur plusieurs marchés asiatiques. Un emoji cheval sur le boîtier, un emballage retouché et aucune fonction supplémentaire: le galop reste surtout visuel.
Après l’édition Year of the Snake vendue un an plus tôt, Apple reprend sa mécanique du Nouvel An lunaire. La version 2026 est proposée notamment en Chine, à Hong Kongen Malaisie, à Singapour et à Taïwan. La vente s’arrête lorsque les stocks sont épuisés.
Le principe est simple: adapter un produit déjà commercialisé à une période locale sans lancer une nouvelle génération. Pour l’acheteur, la vraie question tient donc au boîtier, pas à l’écoute.
Un cheval de Troie, mais sans nouvelle puce
La différence se concentre sur le boîtier de recharge. Apple y grave un emoji représentant le cheval et modifie légèrement le conditionnement. Les écouteurs restent ceux de la version habituelle, avec le même matériel, le même son, la réduction active du bruit, le mode Transparence et l’audio spatial.
Aucune fonction supplémentaire, aucun traitement audio exclusif et aucune amélioration technique n’accompagnent cette édition. Il n’y a ni nouvelle puce, ni autonomie différente, ni firmware réservé à ce modèle. Le cheval est gravé sur le boîtier, pas caché dans les performances.
Le terme édition limitée ne désigne donc pas une génération spéciale. Le fan absolu de la rédac peut ranger ses benchmarks: à matériel identique, les résultats ne changent pas. Apple joue ici la carte de la personnalisation, pas celle du renouvellement technique.
Le prix au trot, la rareté au galop

Apple vend cette version au même prix que l’édition standard proposée avec gravure. Aucun supplément officiel ne vient s’ajouter parce qu’un cheval apparaît sur le boîtier. Le détail compte, car la rareté peut rapidement faire grimper la facture après la fin de la commercialisation.
Une fois les stocks épuisés, l’import et le marché de seconde main resteront les principales options pour les collectionneurs. Le risque est connu: payer beaucoup plus cher pour une gravure et une boîte différentes, sans obtenir un son différent. Voilà une course au collector où le produit ne court pourtant pas plus vite.
Le précédent Year of the Snake suit la même logique. Le produit reste identique, tandis qu’un marquage temporaire accompagne une fête régionale et attire les amateurs de séries limitées.
Le jardin clos met le zodiaque sous coque
En Chine, l’opération s’étend aussi à des accessoires Tech21 consacrés aux AirPods Pro 3 et à l’iPhone 17. Ces coques reprennent le thème du cheval et prolongent la campagne au-delà des écouteurs.
Apple n’a donc pas besoin de modifier toute sa gamme pour adapter son offre à cette période commerciale. Un motif localisé, une gravure et une disponibilité temporaire suffisent à donner au jardin clos une décoration saisonnière. La stratégie tient dans le détail, pas dans une nouvelle fiche technique.
Le procédé a aussi l’avantage de séparer clairement personnalisation et innovation. Une keynote aurait pu vendre cette gravure comme une expérience inédite; ici, le boîtier annonce honnêtement la couleur (et le cheval).
Europe: pas de galop en boutique
La commercialisation annoncée vise les marchés asiatiques. Aucune mise en vente équivalente n’est annoncée en Europe, où la version standard des AirPods Pro 3 reste le modèle accessible par les canaux habituels.
Pour un acheteur européen, l’intérêt est donc esthétique et éventuellement collector. Le boîtier gravé peut justifier une importation pour un amateur des campagnes zodiacales d’Apple, mais il ne change rien à l’écoute quotidienne: même son, même réduction du bruit, mêmes fonctions.
Le cheval galope sur la boîte. Dans les oreilles, lui, ne bouge pas d’un poil.
