Plus de 100 iPhone présumés volés ont été récupérés dans le centre-ville d’Austin après le week-end d’Halloween 2025. L’APD demande un signalement en ligne, avec l’IMEI et le numéro de série à l’appui.
Halloween, le panier garni de l’APD
Le 21 novembre 2025l’Austin Police Department a indiqué avoir récupéré plus de 100 iPhone soupçonnés d’avoir été volés dans le centre-ville pendant le week-end d’Halloween. La police n’annonce pas une liste de propriétaires retrouvés : elle cherche encore à relier chaque appareil à la bonne personne.
La consigne est simple : les personnes dont le téléphone a été volé pendant ce week-end doivent déposer un rapport en ligne auprès de l’APD. Le signalement doit inclure l’IMEI et le numéro de série du téléphone. Le compteur dépasse 100, mais la restitution se jouera appareil par appareil.

L’APD précise que ces deux informations peuvent se trouver sur la boîte d’origine de l’iPhone ou être obtenues auprès de l’opérateur mobile. Cette vieille boîte qu’on garde sans trop savoir pourquoi peut donc redevenir utile. Oui, le carton a enfin un dossier à défendre.
Vérifiez la boîte d’origine ou demandez ces informations à votre opérateur mobile. L’APD indique que l’IMEI et le numéro de série sont nécessaires pour faire correspondre un téléphone récupéré à son propriétaire.
Dix-sept écrans sortent de la botte de foin
La police a aussi publié des photos de 17 téléphones dont les propriétaires restent à identifier. Les enquêteurs espèrent que les images visibles sur les écrans verrouillés permettront à certaines personnes de reconnaître leur appareil.
Ce procédé donne un indice visuel aux victimes, mais l’identification attendue repose sur les informations techniques demandées dans le signalement. La photo attire l’oeil; l’IMEI et le numéro de série font le rapprochement.
Le bon iPhone, le bon dossier
La marche à suivre tient donc en deux pièces d’identification et une démarche en ligne : retrouver l’IMEI et le numéro de série sur la boîte ou auprès de l’opérateur, puis déposer le signalement auprès de l’APD. La police pourra alors comparer ces données avec les téléphones récupérés. Le fond d’écran peut aider à reconnaître l’appareil, mais le dossier commence par les deux numéros.
